Gena Inglis Nix - Band Director

I was born and raised in Rome, Georgia. I graduated from Rome High School. I attended Jacksonville State University and graduated with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Music Education in 2000. My first two years of teaching were in Blountsville, Alabama and Dalton, Georgia. I have 20 years teaching experience.

This is my 18th year as band director at Gaston. We start beginning band in the 6th grade. Our high school program is 7th - 12th grade combined. We have accomplished great things with our band program since I began teaching here, including our first superior ratings at marching festivals and at State Music Performance Assessment. I look forward to the success in the years to come with our program.

I am married to my husband, Jonathan. We have two beautiful daughters, Taylor and Emma. My husband is the head football coach at Pleasant Valley High School; he also coaches wrestling and softball at Pleasant Valley. Our family stays busy with band and sports, as well as our daughters sports and cheer activities. We love every minute of it!
